Surface Protection Program

What Is Biofilm?

Biofilm is a covering of harmful slime that is a major cause of antimicrobial resistance. A biofilm is formed when microorganisms find a receptive environment where they are exposed to food and moisture. The microorganisms work together as a population and secrete a sticky polymer to form a solid matrix attached to a surface. Once a biofilm is established, it is very difficult to eliminate because the microbes are reinforced and protected by the matrix, making them very resistant to sanitizers. Biofilms are often responsible for poor product quality and/or lost product due to contamination, causing costly damage to both product and equipment.  80% of all human infections are caused by some sort of biofilm or harmful slime covering present in hospitals, food service facilities and other public places.

International Asbestos Removal’s Integrated Solution

International Asbestos Removal features a Flexible Five-Part Solution to stop the dangerous build-up of biofilm.  This process can apply to maintaining facilities or address the more extreme instances of environmental contamination.  First, Rapid Hygiene Monitoring, a testing process for biofilm and other contaminants, is employed to detect contamination.  Next, Electrostatic Spraying is employed to apply the following products.  SNiPER, a disinfectant and sterilizer/ deodorizer is used to clean and disinfect the surface while penetrating the outer layers of the biofilm.  A wipe with the anti-microbial cloth is employed to remove the biofilm.  Finally, Bio Protect, an anti-microbial protectant is applied to prevent future contamination or build-up.

Key Parts of Program

International Asbestos Removal’s Surface Protection Program applies to any space and on porous and non-porous surfaces with different levels of cleanliness.  It provides efficient and uniform applications with the electrostatic spraying, and is an effective and non-toxic cleaner and disinfectant.  The Surface Protection Program provides long-term protection against MRSA, E. coli, C-Dif ,salmonella, swine flu, norovirus, and many other harmful bacteria and viruses, and is a low cost alternative to current practices, with no toxic residue.  The Surface Protection Program works in an effective partnership with facility management and coordinates neatly with existing cleaning protocols and products.

Rapid Hygiene Monitoring

Rapid Hygiene Monitoring, the first step of the International Asbestos Removal Surface Protection Program, is an efficient way to uncover whether current cleaning processes are working effectively.  Utilizing the ATP testing process, it can identify trouble spots and provide trend analysis for continuous improvement.  The testing process utilizes ATP bioluminescence, which involves the activation of sample collected from the cleaned surface, which is then mixed with the fluorescent firefly enzyme.  The enzyme reacts with ATP in the sample, producing light.  International Asbestos Removal’s System SURE technology then measures the light emitted from the sample to determine the overall cleanliness of the surface.

Electrostatic Spraying

Bio Protection Services Electrostatic spraying technology provides up to 50% better coverage than conventional sprayers.  The molecules of the water-based solution ejected by the spraying nozzle cling to all surfaces, permeating the sides and back of the object being sprayed, not just the visible surface. The heart of the air-assisted electrostatic sprayer is the patented MaxCharge™ “air atomizing induction charging” nozzle, which was invented at the University of Georgia. The tiny droplets are carried by the negative charge, applied at the tip of the nozzle, to the nearest object, even if it is behind or underneath them! This creates the “wrap-around” effect, where droplets change direction to coat all sides of an object evenly, ensuring proper disinfection and long-lasting protection.

Cleaning/Disinfecting with SNiPER

SNiPER®, the third part of the International Asbestos Removal Surface Protection Program, is an EPA registered, non-toxic, green product which serves as a broad spectrum disinfectant, deodorizer and sterilizer.  It works by disintegrating bacterial and fungal cells mechanically, effectively destroying viruses’ ability to replicate.  Organisms cannot build immunity against SNiPER®, so its efficacy will not be attenuated by long-term usage. SNiPER® is not harmful to humans, animals and the environment yet specifically engineered to target the threats that plague our indoor environments. With SNiPER® technology, you have a disinfectant working for you, not poisoning your health and the air you breathe.

Touch Point Remediation

The fourth part of the International Asbestos Removal Surface Protection Program is the removal of all the contaminants destroyed by the SNiPER® application.  This is accomplished by wiping down the high touch surfaces with the antimicrobial impregnated super-fine cloth, removing everything that contaminated that surface and preparing the surface for the final step.

Bio Protect Surface Protectant

Bio Protect, the fifth part of the International Asbestos Removal Surface Protection Program, is a patented, EPA registered and USDA accepted spray-on antimicrobial protectant for both porous and non-porous surfaces. One end of its molecule creates a strong bond with a multitude of surfaces, porous and non-porous, forming a highly durable protective coating. The other end forms a microscopic bed of spikes that punctures microbes like a bed of nails. Bio Protect physically ruptures the cell walls of these microbes, without the use of poisons, preventing new growth of bacteria, mold, mildew, algae and yeast.  It also gives substrates an added level of protection against damaging microbes that cause stains, odors and deterioration.
